Positive: We really liked the location for access to museums and green spaces. The view of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head were wonderful. Though Cape Town is exceptionally beautiful, we were surprised by the nearly universal presence of high fences and walls—often topped by barbed wire or electrified wires—creating an atmosphere of division and restrictiveness. We were happy to be staying at iKhaya, where the doors opened to the outside and the public, fostering engagement. The Lodge provided sufficient security so that we still felt safe.
Negative: There was nothing we didn’t like. The location and lodge’s interior—design, art, facilities—were in all ways appealing.
Summary: IKhaya Lodge proved to be all we hoped for. Ruth, Norma, and all the staff were helpful, engaging, and considerate.
